Norfolk still has 659 medieval churches, the greatest concentration in the world. The Trust was established to keep these places open as a place of worship

Introduction

Norfolk's churches are not only beautiful internationally important buildings, but they contain hundreds of medieval works of art and craftsmanship, painted screens, frescoes and intricate carved woodwork and roofs.

A shrinking rural population and spiraling building costs have made the upkeep of the fabric of these churches an impossible burden for many small congregations.

The Trust aims to help these parishes with advice and grants.

The aim of this web site is to inform more people of these hidden treasures in Norfolk and to encourage them to preserve this vital part of history by joining as members today.

Company Profile

Norfolk Churches Trust Ltd is a Registered Charity (number 271176), which besides raising funds works alongside English Heritage to achieve its objectives. Norfolk County Council and the local District Councils rely on the Trust's expertise to distribute their available funds.
